Brazilian Literature Day is observed in May to commemorate the birth of José de Alencar, one of Brazil's most distinguished authors. His notable works include "Iracema," "Senhora," and "O Guarani." This day pays tribute to the diversity and excellence of authors and literary works created in the country, acknowledging their cultural significance in shaping the nation. Machado de Assis, Graciliano Ramos, Guimarães Rosa, Carlos Drummond de Andrade, and Clarice Lispector are among the most influential figures in Brazilian literature
